Winter Carnival 2018 in Wokingham
It’s time to wrap up warm and get in the festive spirit. A time to enjoy the celebrations, love, and laughter. 2018 will be the 24th year that the winter carnival has been running. A valuable community project that was initiated by Keith Hoskins who was the town centre manager at the time. Keith with the support of a handful of local shop owners put on a grand event which was a success back in 1994. The carnival is a popular annual event that brings the local community together, supported by Wokingham Council, The Wokingham Society, and Wokingham residents.
This annual community event is organised by a committee made up of local volunteers. The aim is to bring the community together whilst having fun. The carnival also raises funds for local charities. This year’s business supporters include AFPS; Bovis Homes; The Coppid Beech Hotel; Owen Thomas Garden Landscapes; Prospect Estate Agency; McLaughlin Harvey; Tesco; Trademark Windows; Gardeneer and Dawnus without whose help we could not run the event.
Wokingham Winter Carnival
This year’s theme for Wokingham Winter Carnival is Love Wokingham: A Winter Wonderland. Taking place in Wokingham town centre on Sunday the 25th of November a free community event with lots of entertainment for all the family. Starting at 11 am and finishing just before 6 pm.
The kids can enjoy the fun fair rides. This year entertainment includes Punch and Judy, the magic show, the popular Morris dancers, comedy jugglers, and the clowns. Winter Wonderland would not be complete without Santa, who will be in his Grott0 in the library from 11 am until 3 pm.

Enjoy the array of stalls, enjoy warming seasonal food and seasonal crafts and a whole host of musical entertainment including the Berkshire Maestros and Scottish Pipe Band. Find out more about local charities who will be there on the day.
This year there will be a Santa Dash at 4 pm followed by the return of the very popular Parade. But the fun doesn’t stop there as it is followed by carols, the Christmas Tree Lights Switch On and a laser show! Enjoy the atmosphere of the local community.
